Clinical Immunology: Current & Future Research
The study of the immune system is known as immunology. The immune system is the mechanism by which all living things, including humans, protect themselves from disease. Clinical immunology is the study of infections that are caused by immune system malfunctions. Immune system malfunctions can be divided into two categories: Immunodeficiency, in which the immune system fails to respond appropriately, and Autoimmunity, in which the immune system attacks its own body. Approved Immunologists are in charge of coordinating analytic immunology services in the lab and are responsible for a wide range of responsibilities such as clinical contact, translation and approval of results, quality assurance, and test advancement.
